N.J. Phillips 25ml push rod assembly
Replacement push rod assembly for the N.J. Phillips 25ml applicator, carrying the piston and the graduations the dose adjustor is set against.
Details
The push rod is the spine of the applicator. It carries the piston down the cylinder on every stroke, and on these units it is also the part the dose is read off: you turn the dose adjustor anticlockwise to decrease and clockwise to increase, and the graduations on the rod tell you where you have set it. A rod that is bent, scored or has worn graduations is not just a mechanical problem, it is a measurement problem. This assembly fits the 25ml applicator. Replacing it is a sensible alternative to nursing a gun that has been dropped on concrete or has had grit run down the cylinder for a season. Most push rod damage comes from two things: dirt, and putting it away wet. Rinse the applicator through with clean water at the end of every session, work the trigger until it runs clear, then air dry it by operating the trigger repeatedly, and lubricate the piston and washer as the manufacturer directs before it goes back in the box. After fitting a new rod, check the delivered volume against a graduated cylinder before you start on cattle, so you know the gun and the graduations agree.
