This is the default. Sixteen gauge by one inch covers most of what a repeating injector sees on mature beef cattle: bore wide enough that the gun is not fighting the fluid, length enough to reach muscle on an average cow, and shaft stout enough to survive an animal that moves. If you standardise on one size for chute work, this is usually the one. The hub is aluminum, which keeps it light on the end of an injector and lets you get a decent grip on it with cold fingers. A hundred to the box, disposable, one use. The reason to buy needles in hundreds rather than tens is behavioural. A crew changes needles when there is a box sitting on the headgate and they stop changing them when there are four left. A dull needle takes more force, tears more tissue, and puts more strain on the injector mechanism than a sharp one does. Snug the hub properly when you fit it, check it between animals, never straighten a bent needle, and drop the used ones straight into a sharps container as you go. Route, site and dose come from the product label or your veterinarian.
