Mad Barn B-Vitamin Pak is a powdered B-vitamin premix for horses made by Mad Barn Inc. of Petersburg, Ontario. This is the 5 kg pack, which works out to about 1,000 of the manufacturer's 5 g servings. Active ingredients per 5 g serving, as the manufacturer lists them: thiamine 50 mg, riboflavin 40 mg, biotin 20 mg, folic acid 5 mg, niacin 300 mg, D-calcium pantothenate 150 mg, pyridoxine 25 mg, vitamin B12 0.3 mg and choline chloride 700 mg (all stated as minimums). Excipient ingredients: dextrose, calcium carbonate, rice hulls, distillers dried grains, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, calcium silicate, corn starch and flavouring. Directions for use, from the manufacturer: horses under 200 kg, half a scoop (2.5 g); 200 to 500 kg, one scoop (5 g); over 500 kg, one and a half scoops (7.5 g). One scoop holds 5 cc, which is 5 grams. Mad Barn asks that the feeding plan be set with a nutritionist or veterinarian, and its own disclaimer states that the product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Caution, quoted from the manufacturer: "Store in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight. Keep tightly closed when not in use. Feeding vitamins other than vitamins A, D, E, riboflavin, pyridoxine, and thiamine to horses may not have a beneficial effect." Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.
