Mad Barn Performance XL: Electrolytes is a powdered electrolyte for horses, manufactured and registered by Mad Barn Inc. of Petersburg, Ontario. This is the 20 kg pack, about 333 of the manufacturer's two-scoop (60 g) servings; one scoop is 30 grams. Guaranteed analysis per 60 g serving, as the manufacturer prints it: sodium 6.2% (3.72 g), potassium 5.1% (3.06 g), calcium 2% (1.2 g), magnesium 1% (0.6 g), vitamin E minimum 2,000 IU/kg (120 IU) and ascorbic acid minimum 2,500 mg/kg (150 mg). Ingredients: dextrose, sucrose, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium citrate, magnesium citrate, vitamin E, vitamin C, citric acid and flavour. Directions for use, quoted from the manufacturer: "Consult with a nutritionist or veterinarian prior to use. General Use: For hot, humid days and/or for each hour of work (depending on intensity and stress of work), mix 1-2 scoops into 4 liters (1 gallon) of water or mix into feed. Ensure free choice access to fresh, clean water at all times." For competition, Mad Barn directs two scoops (60 grams) in 4 litres of water one to two hours before the event, and two scoops in 4 litres of water for each hour of work immediately after strenuous activity. Warnings and cautions, quoted from the manufacturer: "For equine use only. Not for use in horses intended for food. Not for use in pregnant/lactating horses. Keep out of reach of children. After use, keep tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight." Mad Barn's disclaimer states that the product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
