Details
Mad Barn Natural E/Organic Se is a pelleted vitamin E and selenium supplement for horses, made by Mad Barn Inc. of Petersburg, Ontario. This listing is the 2.5 kg pail. Guaranteed analysis on the label: Selenium 75 mg/kg (2.5 mg per 33 g serving) and Vitamin E 75,000 IU/kg (2,500 IU per 33 g serving). Excipient ingredients, as listed: oat hulls, magnesium oxide, flavouring, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, distillers dried grains, lecithin, flax oil. Directions for use, from the manufacturer's body-weight table: under 200 kg, one-third of a scoop (7 g); 200 to 500 kg, 1.6 scoops (33 g); over 500 kg, three scoops (60 g). One scoop is 29.6 cc and holds 20 g. At the 33 g mid-range serving, a 2.5 kg pail is about 75 days of feeding; at 60 g it is roughly half that. Shelf life on the label: 24 months from date of manufacture. The label directs: consult a nutritionist or veterinarian before use. Because this product adds selenium, check the selenium already supplied by any ration balancer, mineral or fortified feed before adding it, and have the total reviewed by that professional. Mad Barn's disclaimer: "These statements have not been evaluated by Health Canada or the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease." Where to buy: Pipestone Farm Supply lists this product in Millet, Alberta (between Leduc and Wetaskiwin, south of Edmonton), with free in-store pickup and Canada-wide shipping. Set the feeding plan with an equine nutritionist or veterinarian, as the manufacturer directs. Mad Barn's plain Natural Vitamin E powder, without selenium, is listed on this site as well. - Source: Mad Barn Inc. product information for Natural E/Organic Se (directions for use, guaranteed analysis, shelf life), madbarn.ca, viewed September 2026.
