Details
Mad Barn Jiaogulan is a single-ingredient powdered supplement for horses. Mad Barn's active ingredient table lists jiaogulan at 10 g per 10 g serving - that is, the product is the herb itself with nothing else added. Directions for use, quoted from Mad Barn: "Consult with nutritionist or veterinarian prior to use. Top dress on feed or daily ration. For best effects, split the daily dose into two equal feedings." The feeding table gives one scoop (5 g) for a horse under 200 kg, two scoops (10 g) from 200 to 500 kg and three scoops (15 g) over 500 kg; in imperial that is under 440 lb, 440 to 1,100 lb and over 1,100 lb. One scoop is 9 cc and holds 5 grams. Warning and caution, quoted in full from the manufacturer: "A scale should be used with all individual ingredients to ensure accurate dosing. For equine use only. Not for use in horses intended for food. Not for use in pregnant or lactating mares. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use in animals with bleeding disorders." Those last two restrictions matter and are easy to miss - this is not a product to feed to a broodmare or to a horse with a clotting problem. Where to buy Mad Barn Jiaogulan in Alberta: Pipestone Farm Supply lists the Mad Barn range in Millet, between Leduc and Wetaskiwin south of Edmonton, with free in-store pickup and Canada-wide shipping.
