Details
Mad Barn Copper Proteinate 10% is a single-ingredient trace-mineral powder for horses, made by Mad Barn Inc. of Petersburg, Ontario; the manufacturer's pack is a 1 kg pail. Guaranteed analysis on the label: Copper (Cu) 100,000 mg/kg, which is 200 mg in a 2 g serving. Ingredients: Copper Proteinate. The manufacturer's directions put the decision with a professional: "The feeding rate for Copper varies depending on your horse's condition and current diet. This product should be used under the supervision of a veterinarian or other qualified equine health professional." It also offers a diet review through its own nutritionists to set the inclusion rate. Feeding, as directed: "Top dress once daily on feed or ration." The body-weight table: under 200 kg, one scoop (1 g); 200 to 500 kg, two scoops (2 g); over 500 kg, three scoops (3 g). One scoop is 1.25 cc and holds 1 g. At the 2 g serving, a 1 kg pail is about 500 days of feeding. Warning / Caution, quoted in full from the label: "A scale should be used with all individual ingredients to ensure accurate dosing. For equine use only. Not for use in horses intended for food. Keep out of reach of children." Because a scoop is a little over a cubic centimetre, the label's direction to weigh the serving matters: this is a concentrated single mineral, not a ration balancer. Mad Barn's disclaimer: "These statements have not been evaluated by Health Canada or the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease." Where to buy: Pipestone Farm Supply lists this product in Millet, Alberta (between Leduc and Wetaskiwin, south of Edmonton), with free in-store pickup and Canada-wide shipping. Set the feeding plan with an equine nutritionist or veterinarian, as the manufacturer directs. Mad Barn's other single trace minerals listed on this site include Manganese Proteinate 15% and the 3:1 Zinc Copper blend; its ration balancers, AminoTrace+ and Omneity, carry copper as part of a full mineral profile. - Source: Mad Barn Inc. product information for Copper (directions for use, guaranteed analysis, warning / caution), madbarn.ca, viewed September 2026.
