Operations that calve or inseminate in any volume go through lubricant faster than they expect, and buying it a bottle at a time means somebody is always finding an empty one at the wrong moment. The canister exists to end that. It lives on a shelf in the barn and everything else gets filled from it. Volume is 5000 ml. The gel is the same formulation as the smaller bottle, described by Kerbl as a lubricating and skin-protecting gel for rectal and vaginal examinations and stated to have been tested for compatibility with boar semen. The difference between the two sizes is purely the container and how you handle it. The practical arrangement is a squeeze bottle or a pump bottle at the working end, topped up from the canister between sessions, so the large container never has to go into the pen and never gets a dirty glove near the opening. Keep it upright with the cap on, store it somewhere that will not freeze, and check the pour spout is clean before topping anything up. As with any product used around animals, go by the label.
