Dry powder is awkward to place. Scattered by hand it lands mostly on the floor, misses the seams along perches and nest boxes, and puts as much in the air around you as on the target. A duster solves that by pushing a measured puff of powder exactly where you point it. The container is clear plastic and holds half a litre, which works out to roughly 500 g of powder depending on how fine the material is, and it fills through a wide opening rather than a narrow neck. A large air bellows drives the cloud. Five nozzles come in the box in round, angled and flat patterns, along with an extension tube, and the body measures 360 mm end to end before a nozzle goes on. It is built for finely milled materials such as diatomaceous earth, rock flour and mineral lime powders. In use, match the nozzle to the job. The flat pattern lays a band across a surface, while the angled nozzle and the extension reach up under slats and into the back of a joint. Short pulses give better coverage than one long squeeze. Keep the container dry, because damp powder cakes and blocks the outlet, and empty it after a session rather than storing it loaded. Always work to the instructions on the powder you are applying.
