Kerbl VetGel lubricating gel 1L
A one-litre bottle of clear lubricating gel for hands and arms during internal examinations, thick enough to stay put on a glove.
Details
Running short of lubricant part way through a job is a particular kind of frustration, and thin lubricant is barely better than none, because it runs off the glove before the arm is anywhere useful. This is a gel formulation rather than a liquid, so it stays on the surface it was put on. The bottle holds 1000 ml. Kerbl describes it as a lubricating gel that makes hands and arms slippery and protects the skin during rectal and vaginal examinations, and states the formula has been tested for compatibility with boar semen, which is why it turns up in insemination kits as often as in calving boxes. It goes on a gloved arm, or on a bare hand where that is how you work. A litre is the size that suits a calving cart, a truck box or a shelf in the barn: big enough not to run out mid-season, small enough to pick up and pour without decanting. Keep the cap on, keep it off a cold concrete floor in winter so it stays pourable, and wipe the neck before closing so the lid is not glued shut next time. Follow the label for use and storage.
