Kerbl Suspended dial balance 50 kg
A mechanical hanging scale reading to 50 kg in 200 g steps, sized for full feed sacks, wool bags and pails you can lift onto a hook.
Details
Sacks are rarely the weight printed on them by the time they reach the far end of the yard. Part-used bags of mineral, seed cleaned out of a bin, a fleece going into a bag, a pail of grain being split between pens. All of it is easier to account for when there is a scale hanging within reach rather than one sitting in an office. At 50 kg this is the middle capacity in the dial range, and the face reads in 200 g steps. That resolution suits sack and pail work, where you want a number good to a couple of hundred grams rather than the finer 100 g reading of the 25 kg model or the coarser 500 g steps of the 100 kg. Construction is the same across the range: metal body and hooks, with plexiglass over the dial. There is nothing to power and nothing to set up. Hook the load on, let it hang clear of the wall so nothing is taking part of the weight, and read the needle. For repeat jobs, weigh the empty pail or bag once and keep that number in your head. Treat the hook gently. Jerking a load onto a spring scale is the usual way one loses its accuracy, and a bent hook throws the load off centre. Keep the window clean and hang it up unloaded when the job is finished.
