Kerbl Suspended dial balance 25 kg
A mechanical hanging scale reading to 25 kg in 100 g steps, fine enough to check a feed ration, a young lamb or a part-used mineral bag.
Details
Feed control comes down to whether anyone actually weighs the scoop. Most operations start out measuring by volume, and the number drifts as the feed settles or the scoop wears, and nobody notices until intakes start looking strange. A scale that hangs where the feed is stored takes the guesswork out without adding a chore. Of the three capacities in this dial range, the 25 kg is the one with the finest reading. The face is marked in 100 g steps, which is enough to sort out a ration, weigh a young lamb or kid in a sling, or check what is left in a partly used mineral bag. Metal body, metal hooks top and bottom, and a plexiglass window over the dial so the needle can be read at a glance in poor barn light. Being mechanical, it is ready the moment you pick it up. There is no switch, no battery to go flat over winter and no zero to chase. Hang a bucket or a sling from the lower hook, note what the empty container reads, and subtract that from the total. Give the load a second to stop swinging before taking a reading, and avoid dropping a load onto the hook, which is what puts a spring scale out. Wipe the glass rather than scraping it, and hang the scale up unloaded between uses.
