Kerbl Sheep shear double bow 31 cm
Traditional double-bow hand shears, 31 cm long, for crutching, dagging, trimming and touch-up work on sheep and goats.
Details
Hand shears with a double bow spring, 31 cm long, a little over 12 inches. The double bow gives a stronger and springier return than a single bow, so the blades open themselves and your hand only has to do the closing. Nobody shears a whole flock with hand shears any more, but every sheep operation still needs a pair on the wall. Crutching a ewe before she lambs, dagging a dirty back end, opening up an udder so a lamb can find the teat, trimming around a wound, tidying up a show animal. All of that is faster with shears than with a machine you have to go get, plug in and clean afterward. They also work when the power does not, which in rural Alberta in the middle of winter is not a rare event. Keep them sharp, because dull shears pull wool instead of cutting it and that is hard on the sheep and hard on your hand. Wipe them dry after use, put a drop of oil on the pivot, and store them somewhere they will not get knocked around in a drawer. A good pair of hand shears will outlast several clippers.
