A nylon ram harness with buckle closures. It straps around the ram's chest and shoulders and carries a marking crayon on the brisket, so every ewe he serves ends up with a coloured mark on her rump. Marking is how you turn a breeding season into information. Change the crayon colour every sixteen or seventeen days and you know which ewes bred on which cycle, which means you know roughly when each one is due and you can group them accordingly for lambing instead of guessing.
