A 71 cm flexible replacement shaft, right around 28 inches, for the AniShock PRO handle. This is the standard length that comes on the PRO 1500, so it is a straight like-for-like swap. The extra length over the 57 cm shaft buys you reach. Working cattle from outside a fence, over a gate, or down a long alley, the difference between 22 and 28 inches is often the difference between reaching the animal and climbing in there with it. Being the flexible type, it gives instead of shattering when it gets pinched between a hip and a rail. Swapping a shaft is a shop-bench job rather than a trip to town, provided you have one on hand. Most outfits that use a prodder daily keep a spare, because they break and they never break on a slow day. Keep it stored inside over winter and look it over at the start of each season for cracks near the base, which is where the load concentrates. A cracked shaft in wet conditions is a problem waiting to happen.
