The AniShock PRO 2000 is the step up from the 1500 in Kerbl's prodder range. It is the same 98 cm overall length, about 38 and a half inches, but finished in yellow rather than orange, which is the quickest way to tell the two apart on a wall full of handling gear. A prodder is a last-resort tool and not a first one. Most of the work in a well-built alley gets done with position, patience and a flag, and stock that get handled quietly load easier every time after. Where a prodder earns its place is the animal that has planted itself in a chute and is not moving, when standing there arguing with it is worse for everyone than one correction and done. Yellow shows up well in a dark barn and against dirty straw. Keep the shaft clean, check the tip now and then, and store it hanging rather than leaning in a corner where it gets kicked over. Batteries are the usual failure point, so take them out when you put it away for the season and do not expect full output the first cold morning after it has wintered in an unheated shop.
