The AniShock PRO 1500 is the entry model in Kerbl's prodder line. Total length is 98 cm, about 38 and a half inches, with a 71 cm break-proof polycarbonate shaft. It runs on four 1.5 V C cells and weighs about 0.78 kg, roughly a pound and three quarters. Minimum peak output is 5,600 V, and the pulse is paired with an audible buzz. Plenty of stock learn to move on the sound alone, which is exactly the point of it. A one-second automatic shut-off means it cannot be held on an animal, and the electronics are sealed to IP45 against dirt, dust and spray water. Orange is easy to find. Dropped in straw, laid across a rail, or left on the seat of the side-by-side, it does not disappear the way a black handle does. The on/off switch stops it firing in the bottom of the truck box on the way out to the corrals. Pull the batteries if it is going to sit all summer, and keep it in the cab rather than the box in January. Cold cells lose punch, and a prodder that fires weakly is worse than no prodder at all.
