A hip clamp, which is a steel frame with two rubberised pads that close over the pin bones and a screw crank to tighten it down. Hooked to a loader bucket, a hoist or a block and tackle, it lifts a cow that cannot get up on her own. Kerbl lists the Cow Lifting Frame Profi in two versions: a permissible animal weight of 900 kg for small to medium breeds, and 1,500 kg (about 3,300 pounds) for large and beef breeds. Ask us which version we have before you order. Kerbl notes that the rubberised grip clamps can be adjusted to the size of the cow. A cow that cannot get up is a job for your veterinarian, so use the frame as they direct. Keep the crank threads greased and keep the frame somewhere you can reach it in a hurry. A hip clamp buried behind the summer equipment is no use to anybody.
