Kerbl calf replacement teat super
Replacement calf teat for feeding bottles and buckets, shaped to keep a steady flow so a calf sucks rather than gulps.
Details
A replacement calf teat. Teats are the wear item on any milk feeder. A calf chews the tip, the hole opens up, the rubber goes hard in cold weather, and eventually it splits at the base or blows off partway through a feed. Flow rate is the real reason to replace a worn teat instead of running it out. Once the opening enlarges, the calf drinks too fast, swallows air, and is more likely to get milk somewhere it should not go. A fresh teat gives you back a controlled flow and a proper suck. Fitting is a two minute job at the bench: pull the old one, seat the new one, check that it is sitting square before you fill the bottle. Buy them in twos and threes and keep them with the bottles. Through a hard Alberta calving season you will pull more of these off the shelf than you expect, and the day you need one is never the day you feel like driving into town. Store spares indoors. Rubber that has spent a winter in an unheated shed goes stiff and tears when you stretch it over the collar.
