The Profi drencher holds 2 litres, a bit over two quarts, which is a sensible single dose for a newborn calf. It is small enough to handle in one hand while you steady the calf with the other. Two litres is the size most people actually reach for. A newborn beef calf is not going to take four, and a smaller vessel is easier to control, quicker to fill and faster to wash out afterward. The graduations let you see exactly what went in, which matters when you are following your vet's instructions or trying to judge whether a calf is coming around from one feed to the next. Keep it in the calving kit with the probe attached and the whole thing dry and clean. Cold plastic goes stiff and awkward, so if it has been sitting in an unheated shed at thirty below, bring it inside for a few minutes before you use it on a calf. Rinse it immediately after use and hang it to drain. A drencher that sat dirty overnight is not something you want going down the next calf's throat.
