Hot-Shot Sorting Paddle
A vinyl-covered Hot-Shot sorting paddle with a golf-style grip and BBs inside that rattle to help move livestock.
Details
A sorting paddle is the tool most crews reach for before anything else. The bright, wide paddle face gives cattle something they read as a barrier, and the BBs inside give a rattle when you shake it, so you get a visual cue and a sound cue without touching an animal. Used well, a paddle and a bit of patience do more work in a tub than anything electric. Hot-Shot builds these with a vinyl covering that wipes clean and takes the weather, and a golf-style grip that stays comfortable through a long morning. The paddle face itself is 6.25 inches wide. Hose the manure off and hang it up. That is essentially the whole maintenance program. Do not leave it lying flat in a corral where a tire or a hoof can crush it, and if a crack opens up in the face, replace it before the next big run. Outfits that work cattle regularly usually keep two or three around, since one in the truck, one at the tub and one at the barn covers most of what comes up.
