Hot-Shot replacement motor for HS2000 prod (HS1)
The HS1 replacement motor for the Hot-Shot HS2000 prod, for rebuilding a handle instead of replacing the whole tool.
Details
The motor is the working heart of an HS2000, and when it goes the rest of the handle is usually still perfectly sound. The HS1 is the replacement unit, which makes a rebuild an option rather than a write-off. Before going to a motor, rule out the cheap things. Flat or corroded batteries, a dirty contact, a cracked shaft that has let water into the wire, and a worn shaft nut all produce the same complaint of a prod that seems weak or dead. Working through those in order saves real money, and it is the kind of job worth doing on a quiet afternoon rather than in the middle of a run. If the motor really is finished, fitting the replacement is straightforward shop work. Keep the inside of the handle dry and free of grit while it is apart, and take the chance to clean the contacts and check the safety clip at the same time. A rebuilt prod that gets stored inside will give you another long stretch of service.
