The red handle is the other long-standing Hot-Shot pattern, and this is the rechargeable version of it. It uses the same rechargeable pack as the rest of the red and green line, so if you already run one of those you have a common battery across your tools, which simplifies life considerably at a busy set of corrals. It takes standard Hot-Shot shafts, rigid or flexible, so you fit it to the alley you actually have rather than the one in the catalogue. Some crews prefer the red handle purely on feel and balance, which is a perfectly legitimate reason to choose one. Pick up both before you decide if you get the chance. Keep the safety engaged any time it is not in your hand. Charge it the night before a working day, and bring it indoors in cold weather instead of leaving it in the truck. Keep the contacts clean, wipe the handle down after a wet day, and store it somewhere heated over the winter.
