Battery packs wear out well before handles do. The RBP3 is the rechargeable pack for the Hot-Shot red and green handles, and swapping the pack is a lot cheaper than replacing a prod that is otherwise sound. If your handle runs weak, will not hold overnight, or quits partway through a run, the pack is the first place to look. Some outfits buy a second pack instead of a second prod. One sits on the charger while the other one works, which can be the difference between finishing a big day and stopping halfway through it. Worth thinking about if you preg check or process a lot of head at a time. Cold shortens what any rechargeable pack will give you, so keep it in a heated space between uses through the winter and charge it the night before. Keep the contacts clean and dry. Do not leave a pack sitting fully flat for months, and do not leave one in a truck box through a cold snap if you can help it.
