Hand tensioning is guesswork. Two people tensioning the same fence get two different results, and the same person tensioning at nine in the morning and again at four in the afternoon gets two more. The Torq tool takes the guessing out of it. It runs a 6:1 gear drive, which is what allows tensioning of wire up to 400 kg without a fight, and it carries an integral torque gauge reading 100 to 300 kg so you can see the load going on rather than judging it by how hard the handle feels. Consistent tension across a whole run is what makes a fence sit properly and what stops one wire carrying more than its share of the work. That consistency matters more here than in a mild climate. Wire contracts in deep cold and slackens in summer heat, and a fence tensioned to a known figure has a predictable range to move through. Over-tensioned wire in a January cold snap is wire that breaks or pulls staples; under-tensioned wire is a sagging fence by August.
