GRIPPLE setting/release key (flag type)

Gripple joiners are one-way by design. The internal rollers let wire in and will not let it back out, which is exactly what you want in a finished joint and exactly what you do not want when you have just set one in the wrong place. This is the tool that solves that. The flag-type setting and release key slips into the joiner and lifts the roller clear of the wire, so a Gripple Plus product can be repositioned or backed off before it is tensioned. Once the joint is under load it is a permanent connection and the key will not undo it, so the window for using this is while you are still setting up. It is small, it costs almost nothing, and losing it is the normal outcome. Keep one in the fencing bag, one in the truck and one on the keyring with your fencing pliers. Anybody running Gripple joiners on a fence line needs one eventually, usually halfway down a quarter section with a joiner set eight inches too far along the wire and a long walk back. Buy two.
