Feather picking in a pen of birds is one of those problems that feeds on itself. One bird gets pecked, the spot bleeds, the blood draws every other bird in the pen, and within a day you have real damage and sometimes a dead bird. Stop-Pick is a topical dressing you paint on the picked area — it tastes foul and discourages the next bird from going back to the same spot, which buys you time to break the cycle. Apply it to the damaged skin and the feathers around it with the applicator, and expect to reapply as it wears off. It works on the birds doing the picking, not the bird being picked, so it only helps while there is something bitter still on the bird. Be clear with yourself that this is a bandage on a management problem, not a fix. Picking is almost always driven by something else: crowding, too much light, too little feed space or water space, boredom in a barren pen, a ration short on protein or salt, or external parasites. If you paint the bird and change nothing else, the picking comes back the week the product wears off. Look hard at square footage per bird, light intensity, feeder space and the ration at the same time you treat. Watch the pen closely after treating and pull any badly damaged bird out to heal on its own. Follow the label for species and any withdrawal statement if the birds are going for meat or eggs.
