Bloat is a race, and the reason to own a small bottle of this is so that the product is where the animal is instead of back at the yard. Three hundred and forty millilitres is a treatment or two, which is exactly what a truck kit or a pasture kit should carry. Understand which bloat you are looking at, because it changes what helps. Frothy bloat, the kind that comes off lush legume pasture or a hot ration, is a foam that the animal cannot belch, and an anti-bloat product works by breaking that foam down so the gas can come up. Free-gas bloat, usually an obstruction or an animal that cannot get its head down, needs the gas released, and a tube or a trocar is what does that, not a drench. A bloated animal is an emergency. If it is down, breathing open-mouthed, staggering or has a grossly distended left flank, you are past the point where reading a label is the right use of your time. Phone your veterinarian while you are treating. Give it according to the label for species and rate, and give it safely: an animal that fights a drench can aspirate it. Then deal with why it happened, because bloat on pasture repeats until the grazing management changes.
