Lysine is an essential amino acid, which means animals cannot make it and have to get it from what they eat. It is the one that most often runs short first in practical diets, and a liquid supplement is the straightforward way to add a measured amount without reformulating a whole ration. The liquid form is the reason to choose this over a powder. It mixes readily, it does not sit on top of feed and get sorted out, and it is easy to give a small accurate dose to an individual animal rather than treating a group.
