DVL Germe-Zone 500ml
500 mL antiseptic wound dressing for cleaning and treating minor cuts, scrapes and surface wounds on livestock.
Details
This is the general-purpose antiseptic dressing that lives in most farm treatment kits: something to clean up and treat a minor cut, scrape, rope burn or surface wound after you have flushed the dirt out of it. The sequence matters more than the product. Clean first with clean water until the wound actually is clean, then dress. Antiseptic poured over packed-in mud does very little, and a wound that has been properly flushed heals better than one that has been heavily medicated and left dirty. Five hundred millilitres is a sensible amount to keep on hand. It is enough for a season of small wounds without sitting on the shelf until it is out of date, and it is cheap enough that nobody is tempted to skimp on a job. Where this stops being the right product is anything deep, anything that gapes and needs closing, anything over a joint or a tendon, a puncture, or a wound that is swollen, hot and painful days later. Those all need your veterinarian, and early is better than late. Apply according to the label for species and directions, keep the cap on and the bottle out of the sun, and do not decant it into an unlabelled container. Watch a treated wound daily rather than treating once and assuming it is handled.
