DVL Fast Klot 14g
Small 14 g container of fast-acting clotting powder for nicks, nail trims and small wounds on individual animals.
Details
Fourteen grams is a pocket-sized amount, and that is deliberate. This is the container you keep in the grooming kit, the tack box or the dog bag for the one nail cut too short or the small nick that will not stop, rather than the shaker jar you carry out to a chute full of calves. Clotting powder works the same way at any size: press it into the bleeding point and hold pressure. On a quicked nail you can dip the nail straight into the container, which is faster and cleaner than sprinkling and is the main reason people keep this size on hand. If your bleeding jobs are dehorning and castrating a group, buy the larger 200 mL shaker instead. It is far better value per use and it dispenses better with gloves on. Keep the lid tight and the container dry, because moisture turns the powder into a cake that will not come out when you need it. Once a nail has been dipped into it, that container is no longer clean, so do not use it on an open wound afterward. Follow the label directions for species and use. This is for minor bleeding only. Bleeding that spurts, soaks through a wrap, or comes with a pale or weak animal is a call to your veterinarian, not a powder job.
