Strongid-P is a pyrantel pamoate oral paste for horses from Zoetis Canada, listed in Health Canada's Drug Product Database under DIN 00433780 (veterinary). The Canadian label states: "Each 23.6 g (20 mL) syringe contains the equivalent of 3.6 g pyrantel base." The indication quoted from the label: "For the treatment of parasitic infections caused by the adult stage of large strongyles, small strongyles, pinworms, ascarids and the common tapeworm in horses and foals over 8 weeks of age." Dosage quoted from the label: "6.6 mg pyrantel base per kg body weight for infections of roundworms" and "13.2 mg pyrantel base per kg body weight for infections of tapeworms." The label's dosing table gives one syringe per 540 kg at the roundworm dose (half a syringe per 270 kg), and two syringes per 540 kg at the tapeworm dose. Administration quoted from the label: "Strongid P paste is recommended for direct oral administration. Fasting prior to or following treatment is not required." Warnings and cautions quoted from the label: "This drug is not to be administered to horses that are to be slaughtered for use in food." "It is recommended that severely debilitated animals not be treated with this drug."
