Quest Gel is a moxidectin oral gel for horses and ponies from Zoetis Canada, listed in Health Canada's Drug Product Database under DIN 02231660 (veterinary). The Canadian label states: "Each mL contains 20 mg of moxidectin (2% w/v)". The indication quoted from the label: "QUEST Gel is indicated for the treatment of internal parasitic infections caused by the following parasites in healthy horses and ponies, 4 months of age or older:" — the label's list covers large strongyles (Strongylus vulgaris, S. edentatus, Triodontophorus spp.), small strongyles (Cyathostomum, Cylicocyclus, Cylicostephanus and related genera), ascarids (Parascaris equorum), pinworms (Oxyuris equi), hairworms (Trichostrongylus axei), stomach bots (Gasterophilus spp.), Onchocerca cervicalis microfilariae and large-mouthed stomach worms (Habronema muscae). Dosage quoted from the label: "400 µg per kg of body weight" (0.4 mg moxidectin/kg). "QUEST Gel is packaged in ready-to-use SURE-DIAL® syringes" and "The syringe is calibrated in 25 kg increments, up to 575 kg." Each syringe contains "sufficient product to treat a 575 kg (1250+ lb) animal at the recommended dose". Administration quoted from the label: "Gently push the plunger until it stops, depositing the gel on the back of the tongue". Warnings and cautions quoted from the label: "This drug is not to be administered to horses and ponies that are to be slaughtered for use in food". "Keep out of reach of children". "Do not use in foals less than 4 months of age". "This product should not be used in other animal species as serious adverse reactions may result, such as death in dogs". The label also warns that overdoses "may manifest themselves as transient depression, drowsiness and ataxia 8 to 24 hours post administration" — dose by body weight using the dial.
