Details
Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sunny Areas Mix is a lawn seed blend for areas with high sun exposure, made by Scotts Canada. This is the 1 kg bag. The manufacturer lists the varieties as Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass and fine fescue, states the seed is 99.99% weed-free, and says it germinates in approximately 7 days. Scotts positions it for front lawns, new lawns and reseeding. Coverage and timing, as Scotts states them: a 1 kg bag covers up to 246 m2 (2,648 sq ft). Spring and fall are the best times to plant, and the seed germinates best when temperatures are consistently 15 to 26 C. How to sow, from the manufacturer's directions: prepare the soil by removing dead grass, weeds and debris, loosening the soil to a depth of 5 to 10 cm and raking it smooth and level; apply the seed evenly; then water and keep the soil moist while the seedlings establish. The seeding rate for new lawns and for overseeding is printed on the bag. Where to buy: Pipestone Farm Supply lists Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sunny Areas Mix 1 kg in Millet, Alberta (between Leduc and Wetaskiwin, south of Edmonton), with Canada-wide shipping and free in-store pickup. The All Purpose Mix (sun and shade) and the Shady Areas Mix (1 kg) are the sibling products. Scotts lawn fertilizers and the fall overseeding guide are on the site as well. Always follow the bag directions and seeding rate. - Source: Scotts Canada product information for Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sunny Areas Mix (item 20239), scottsmiraclegro.com/en-ca, viewed September 2026.
