Details
The DXABP is the alkaline power source for a Hot-Shot DuraProd. It runs on four C cell batteries and snaps onto the DuraProd handle, which is sold separately. Nothing to unscrew, no tools, no fiddling in the cold with small parts you can drop in the straw. Alkaline has a plain advantage over rechargeable: it needs no plug and no charger base, and a spare set of C cells lives happily in the glovebox. If the prod only comes out a handful of times a year for loading or a vet day, running alkaline saves you from discovering a flat rechargeable pack the morning the liner is in the yard. Because the two pack styles are interchangeable on the same handle, plenty of outfits keep one of each: rechargeable for a long day of sorting, alkaline as the backup. Pull the cells out if the prod is going into storage for months, the same as you would with any battery tool, and check the contacts for corrosion before you count on it in the fall.
