The 7 lb Double-Tuf feeder (item DT9860) is the largest of the small-flock sizes, built the same way as its smaller siblings: jar and feed saver ring moulded as one piece in impact-resistant plastic, with a lid and carry handle. Seven pounds buys you time. A dozen or fifteen birds will not empty it in a day, so weekend chores get simpler and anyone filling in for you has less to remember. That extra capacity is also why the saver ring matters more here, not less. A bigger opening full of feed is a bigger invitation to bill it onto the floor. Because it is plastic, there is nothing to corrode where damp mash sits against the base, and it will not develop the rusty rim that turns a tired galvanized feeder into a cut foot. Hang it or block it up so the rim sits at back height for the flock. Before it goes into a shed for the season, tip out the fines and wash it, because feed dust left sitting all winter is a mouse invitation.
