Microchips and Identification
Pipestone Farm Supply lists two Datamars PetLink microchip products for permanent identification. The PetLink slim polymer microchips come 25 to a pack for a clinic, shelter or breeder chipping a litter or a season's worth of animals, and the PetLink T-SL 8010 equine slim polymer microchip is the single implant used for horses. A microchip only identifies an animal if it is registered, so record each chip number against the owner in the PetLink registry after implanting and keep the sticker set from the pack with the animal's papers. Implanting is a veterinary or trained-technician procedure; follow the Datamars instructions for site and scanner check. For visual tags, leg bands and marking products, see the cattle ear tags, poultry identification bands and tags and marking pages. Orders ship Canada-wide from Millet, Alberta, or pick up in store.
