A larger-capacity bait station of the cafe type, sized for rats and for the bigger block and bar formats, and compatible with the Ramik and Havoc-XT baits. Where a small mouse station holds a block or two, this one holds enough that a heavy rat population does not clean it out between service visits — which is the difference between a program that works and a line of empty boxes. Rats are cautious about new objects and about entering confined spaces, so a station with a proper run-through design and adequate room inside gets used where a cramped one gets ignored. Give a new station several nights before you decide rats are not interested. It locks and anchors, which is what makes it lawful for the bait it holds — most Canadian rodenticide labels require a tamper-resistant station — and what keeps bait away from farm dogs, barn cats, livestock and children. Set it flush along a wall, at a building corner, beside a burrow, or on a rat runway you can identify by the rub marks. Anchor it so it cannot be tipped or dragged. Note the location and service it on a schedule. Keep the inside clean. Rats foul a station, bait goes off, and rodents will not feed on spoiled bait — so clear it out and replace rather than topping up on top of old material. Wear gloves for that job and wash afterward. This is durable equipment. It will outlast many pails of bait, and buying enough stations up front is the best money in the whole program.
