Details
Miracle-Gro Evergreen Fertilizer Spikes are a slow-release, pre-measured fertilizer for evergreen trees and shrubs, made by Scotts Canada. The manufacturer states an NPK ratio of 12-6-12 and describes a slow-release formula that includes organic ingredients and needs no mixing or measuring. This is the 10-pack, net contents 1.13 kg. What it is for, as Scotts describes it: evergreen trees such as pine, spruce, yew, hemlock and juniper, and the manufacturer's where-to-use note also lists deciduous and flowering trees and shrubs and acid-loving plants. The spikes are inserted into the soil around the drip line of the plant so the nutrients release directly into the root zone. How to use, from the manufacturer's directions: wear gloves. Find the drip line of the tree or shrub (the outer edge of the branches), place a spike with its cap on and hammer it in around the drip line, spacing spikes about 3 ft (roughly 1 m) apart, until the top of the spike is about 2 inches (5 cm) below the surface. Remove the plastic cap and keep it for the next spike. Apply when the ground is soft and moist; if the ground is dry, water it first. When to use: Scotts directs one application per season, once in early spring and once in mid-fall. Storage and precautions are printed on the package; read them before use. Where to buy: Pipestone Farm Supply lists Miracle-Gro Evergreen Fertilizer Spikes 12-6-12 10-Pack in Millet, Alberta (between Leduc and Wetaskiwin, south of Edmonton), with Canada-wide shipping and free in-store pickup. For deciduous and flowering trees the sibling product is the Miracle-Gro Tree & Shrub Fertilizer Spikes 15-5-10 10-Pack, and the rest of the Miracle-Gro plant-food range is on the Miracle-Gro brand page. Always follow the package directions and rates. - Source: Scotts Canada product information for Miracle-Gro Evergreen Plant Food Spikes (item 4851212), scottsmiraclegro.com/en-ca, viewed September 2026.
