Details
An energizer is only as good as the two wires coming out of it. This set gives you the fence output lead and the ground lead in the correct gauge for the smaller Speedrite units, so you are not improvising with baler wire or a length of house cable and wondering why the fence is weak. The leads are three feet long and suited to energizers up to roughly three joules, which covers the Speedrite 1000, 2000 and 3000. Larger energizers want heavier lead-out wire than this, so match the set to the unit rather than assuming one size fits the yard. Most fence problems that get blamed on the energizer are actually a poor ground or a corroded connection at the box. Replacing tired, cracked or salvaged leads is one of the cheapest things you can do before you start walking the line looking for a short. Keep a spare set in the shop, since a lead usually fails on the coldest morning of the year.
