Silverline cohesive bandage 4"
A four-inch self-adhering wrap that sticks to itself rather than to hair or skin, so no pins, clips or tape are needed.
Details
Anything taped to an animal comes off with hair attached, and clips work loose the first time the leg moves. A cohesive wrap avoids both. It grips itself along the overlap and nothing else, so it stays put and comes off without a fight. Four inches is the general-purpose width. It covers a cannon bone or a hock in a few turns, tears across by hand without scissors, and holds a dressing or poultice in place while giving light compression. The same roll works for human first aid, which is why one usually ends up in the truck and one in the barn. Lay it on with even overlap rather than pulling it tight as you go. Cohesive material keeps taking up tension, so a wrap that felt fine going on can end up tighter than intended. Check the limb below the wrap and change the dressing as often as whoever is treating the animal advises. It stores indefinitely and costs little, so keeping several rolls on hand saves a trip at an inconvenient hour.
