A calf nipple in a lamb is too much bore and too much stretch. The lamb either cannot get a seal or gets a flood, and neither ends with a fed animal. The size difference is not cosmetic. This one is half an inch in diameter and three and a half inches long, a small enough mouthful for a newborn lamb and long enough to reach the back of the tongue where the suck reflex sits. The rubber is soft and pliable by design, with a natural shape meant for tender mouths, and it suits kids, piglets and foals as readily as lambs. It snaps onto the standard two and three quart snap-on nursing bottles, so the same bottle you use for calves converts for small stock by changing the nipple. That is useful on a mixed operation where lambing and calving overlap. Warm milk and a warm nipple make a difference to a lamb that has not sucked before. Rinse it straight after feeding and keep a spare, because these are small enough to lose in the bedding.
