Little Giant Chicken Treat Skewer
Stainless steel treat skewer, four inches long on a nine-inch chain with a heavy-duty clip, for hanging apples, carrots or cob corn.
Details
A four inch stainless steel skewer on a nine inch chain, with a heavy-duty clip that fastens to cage wire, a fence panel or a rafter. Push an apple, a carrot or a piece of cob corn onto it and hang it in the run. Stainless is the right material here for an obvious reason. This thing spends its life with wet fruit on it in a humid coop, and plain steel would be orange inside a month. Stainless washes clean and stays clean, which counts for something going back into a bird pen. It does much the same job as a treat ball but suits the bigger, firmer items a ball will not hold, cob corn in particular, which is one of the better things to give a flock through a cold spell. Hanging feed is not only about waste. Birds shut in through a long winter get bored and start on each other, and giving them something to work at for twenty minutes takes the edge off. Hang it where the birds reach it standing normally, and pull the leftovers off before they go mouldy, especially in a coop you are keeping warm.
