The 820 is a long, low ground feeder moulded from high-density polypropylene: 20 inches long, 4.5 inches wide and 3 inches high, with 28 feeding holes, fourteen down each side. The top flips open on a snap-in hinge for filling and cleaning. The holes are the design. A chick puts its head through, eats, and pulls back out, which stops the two things that waste feed in a brooder: birds standing in the trough, and birds scratching feed over the edge into the shavings. Wet, soiled crumble is a real cost when you are raising a batch, and this shape simply does not give them the chance to make the mess. The low profile suits day-olds that cannot reach a hanging feeder yet, and the length spreads fourteen birds a side so the timid ones still get a turn. Polypropylene will not rust where damp mash sits against it. The flip top means you refill without lifting the whole feeder and tipping half of it into the litter, and the snap-in hinge is built to keep working after the lid has been flipped a few thousand times.
