Farnam Bronco Equine Fly Spray 3.8 L
The barn-size refill of the everyday fly spray — four litres, so you can spray generously all season.
Details
Bronco is the workhorse fly spray, and its virtue is that it is inexpensive enough to use generously. That matters more than it sounds. A premium spray you ration because of what it cost protects the horse less than a moderate spray you apply properly every day. If you have several horses and you are going through it all summer, this is the economics most barns land on. Expect to reapply. It gives good knockdown and repellency but it does not last like a premium long-duration formula, so plan on daily use and a second application on a bad evening rather than assuming one pass in the morning covers a whole July day. Read the label. It gives the species it is registered for, the insects it is registered against, where on the animal it may be used, and the application interval — and following it is a legal requirement, not a suggestion. Never use an equine product on another species without checking. Apply to a clean, dry coat and work it in with the hair; dirt, dust and sweat cut effectiveness. Do the shoulders, barrel, belly and legs. Use a cloth around the face, never spraying toward the eyes. Introduce the spray at a distance to a horse that has not been sprayed before rather than surprising it, and patch-test a horse with sensitive skin. And remember the spray is the second half of the job. Manure picked up, standing water drained, traps hung and stabling during peak fly hours will each do more than another bottle. Store out of the sun, away from heat and flame.
