AmproMed is Bimeda's amprolium oral solution (Amprolium Oral Solution, USP; DIN 02458004). The label states "Each mL contains 96 mg of amprolium." This is the 3.8 L jug, which is mixed into drinking water. Label indications, from Bimeda: for chickens, "As an aid in the treatment of caecal coccidiosis in growing chickens and laying birds"; for calves, "As an aid in the treatment of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria bovis and E. zuernii." Directions, from the label: for chickens, "give 0.024% amprolium in the drinking water for 5 to 7 days. Continue the treatment with 0.006% amprolium medicated water for an additional one to two weeks." For calves, "0.012% amprolium in drinking water for 5 days." The label gives the volume of AmproMed to dissolve per 200 L of water for each concentration; follow the mixing table on the container. Withdrawal and cautions, from the label: for calves, "Treated animals must not be slaughtered for use in food for at least seven (7) days after the latest treatment" and "Do not use in calves intended for future breeding"; for chickens, "No withdrawal period is required for meat or eggs when chickens are treated according to label." The label asks that the diagnosis be reconfirmed in chickens if there is no improvement within 3 days, and that coccidiosis in calves be confirmed by fecal examination before treatment.
