Swine Boss stainless steel nipple drinker hex
Hex-body nipple drinker for swine — a durable bite-valve drinker for grower and finisher pens.
Details
The hex body is the practical detail: it means you can put a wrench on it. Anyone who has tried to break loose a round-bodied drinker seized into a galvanized fitting in a wet barn understands why that matters. For a barn where drinkers get replaced on a schedule rather than when they fail, the hex saves real time. Beyond the body, this is the standard bite-type nipple pigs learn quickly and cannot easily foul: the pig closes its mouth on the stem, water flows, it lets go and the flow stops. Compared with open bowls and troughs it wastes far less water and stays cleaner, which matters as much for pit volume as it does for hygiene. Set flow to the class of pig in the pen. Growers and finishers need appreciably more per minute than nursery pigs, and a drinker that delivers too little is a hidden brake on intake and gain — pigs eat less when they cannot drink enough. Check delivered pressure at the drinker itself; pressure at the header tells you little once you have run a hundred feet of small line. Mount at roughly the shoulder height of the smaller pigs in the group, angled slightly down, with enough drinkers that a boss pig cannot control all the water in the pen. Confirm the thread size matches your lines before you order. Walk the drinkers weekly with a hand on each one — a leaker soaks a pen and a plugged one starves it, and both cost more than the part.
