Nine times out of ten a Hot-Shot that has lost its snap needs batteries, not repair. Put a fresh set in before you conclude anything is wrong with the unit, because it is the cheapest test available and it usually ends the investigation. Six Rayovac alkaline cells to the pack, packaged as Hot-Shot part ALKDP2, which is the genuine replacement pack rather than a generic substitute. Store them somewhere warm. Cold takes capacity out of alkaline cells, and a pack that has wintered in a truck is not the fresh set you were counting on. Two packs on the shelf is better than one, because they go flat on sorting day rather than on a quiet Tuesday. Alkaline, not rechargeable. Do not put these on a charger.
