Elemental sulfur in powder form, in a 1.5 kg bag. We make no treatment or pest-control claim for it. A 1.5 kg bag is a working quantity for mixing rather than a single application. Traditional mixes combine it with a carrier such as petrolatum, oil, or pine tar and glycerin. Two honest cautions. First, sulfur preparations are traditional rather than registered veterinary treatments for most of what people use them for, and a persistent skin problem deserves a diagnosis before it gets a folk remedy — mange, ringworm, lice, rain scald and allergic dermatitis look similar and do not respond to the same things. Your veterinarian can scrape or culture and tell you which you are fighting. Second, sulfur is an irritant on broken skin and in the eyes, and lime-sulfur mixes are considerably harsher than sulfur alone. Test a small area, and never combine it with anything containing chlorine bleach. Powdered sulfur is combustible as a fine dust, so keep it away from open flame, sparks and hot work. Store it sealed, dry and cool. Wear a dust mask when you are mixing a batch — the powder gets everywhere and it is unpleasant to breathe.
