Little Giant soft rubber lamb nipples black (92)
A soft rubber lamb nipple that threads onto an ordinary 20-ounce pop bottle, so a bottle lamb can be fed with whatever is in the truck.
Details
Lambs do not schedule their emergencies. A ewe rejects one at two in the morning, or you find a chilled one in the far pen with no bottle anywhere near, and the difference between a live lamb and a dead one is often just getting something warm into it soon enough. This nipple threads onto a standard 20-ounce plastic soda bottle, a container that exists in every truck cab and every shop fridge. It measures a little over half an inch in diameter and two and a half inches long, with a thumb tab about 1 3/8 inches wide for grip, and it is made from a soft rubber formula shaped for the small mouths of lambs, kids, piglets and foals. Using a pop bottle is not a compromise. It is the right volume for a newborn feeding, the bottle costs nothing and can be thrown out afterwards, and the graduations moulded into most bottles let you judge the amount without a measuring jug. Enlarge the tip only if the flow is clearly too slow for the lamb, and cut small, because you cannot undo it. Keep a couple in the lambing kit and a couple in the truck.
